Based in Ottawa, ON. Valley Mountain is a duo comprised of Julia Bobiak on vocals and Rory Mayhew on guitar and vocals. The duo is setting out to bring much needed representation to female fronted acts.

With Julia’s excellent sense of pitch and tone coupled with Rory’s experience and capability as a guitar player, the duo perform songs reminiscent of an era when popular music was dominated by live musicians whilst touching on modern sensibilities. With an impressive set of individual and combined accolades, Valley Mountain are perpetually pushing their act to grow and continually challenge themselves to provide the best live show they can possibly give.

ABOUT

Julia is an alumni of the international, award-winning Hamilton Children's Choir with experience performing on stages for large audiences all over the world including tours to Sweden and China. She brings her experience from the highly competitive and demanding world of choral singing into a band setting to give the act a sense of professionalism with her soaring soprano vocal range. Over the course of the pandemic, she learned the bass astonishly quickly, and has added the role of bass player for full band bookings as well as lead vocal duties.

Rory began his music career playing bass for local blues bands in the early 2000’s, after which he started performing with local touring acts in and around Eastern Ontario on a variety of instruments. Rory has opened for acts including Helix, We Were Sharks, and CCMA award winner Aaron Goodvin on stages such as the Shawville Fair, Richmond Fair and RBC Bluesfest. Rory developed his guitar chops mentoring with renowned guitar player Yvan Petit (of Johnny Reid’s band) and uses his musicianship to guide the band in their performances.

Since their inception, Valley Mountain have graced a multitude of stages around the National Capital Region and Ontario on a variety of stages for fairs, festivals, and at independent venues alike. Their first release, a cover of The Chicks’ song “Cowboy Take Me Away” climbed to the #2 spot on The Canadian Indie Country Countdown. Stream by clicking the Spotify or Apple Music links below
